Expanding Events
While MFAS has focused primarily on film since its inception, we're excited to announce that we're expanding our creative horizons to showcase a wider range of performance arts, including theatre, dance, and music. We will be focusing on working with established companies as well as independent, local artists to diversify our events starting in 2025.
Scholarship Opportunities
The MFAS exists to highlight achievements in cinema and film studies. As the field grows increasingly difficult for younger people to break into, one of our long-term projects is the launching of a scholarship for undergraduate students who will be going into film or related studies.
Cutting Room Publication
We are working to push our quarterly members-only journal, Cutting Room, towards a more frequent publication schedule and and be accessible to non-members. Our end goal is for Cutting Room to include valuable industry insights as well as provide perspectives from experienced film makers, crew members, and academics.
MFAS Awards
Our ultimate goal is the launching of the MFAS Awards, rewarding and showcasing independent and student films displaying technical and artistic excellence. Films will be selected and voted upon by members, and all entrants will have their projects housed in the MFAS film archives.
